An Cnoc 39 yo 1975/2014 44.2%

One of the rarest active distilleries you can meet on shelves. Just 51 release known by Whiskybase. And today we have the oldest one of the range.

An Cnoc 39 yo 1975/2014 44.2% - vatting of "3 American Oak & Spanish Oak Ex-Sherry Casks". Brownish colour in a glass. Let's go:

Nose: fresh and vibrant despite its age, sweet grapes, red apples, some precious wood.

Taste: elegant and mellow starting on fruit sweetness and going through oakiness and spiciness to orange bitterness.

Finish: long, silky and oaky with hints of ginger and menthol.

Overall: not too expensive as for almost 40 yo malt and a fine malt it is I should say.

Score: 22 22 23 23, 90/100!
