Sounds quite crazy and indeed it is: three old Samaroli malts at one tasting!
All the malts were bottled more than 30 years ago in 1980-s. So the line-up as follows:
Nose: kippers, smoke, salt, whiffs of raw potatoes, wet wool, chalk and grass. Far closer to modern south Islay than to modern eastern Highland.
Taste: superbly dense, salty and mineral.
Finish: long, peaty and salty with lots of smoked fish.
Overall: just brilliant for its 12 years.

Ord 1962/1984 Samaroli Bouquet 58.0% - 720 bottles released.
Nose: fresh, creamy and resionous, hints of bee venom and honey, precious wood.
Taste: takes you by storm with plenty of layers and brushstrokes, wood, spices, wax, bee venom, touches of cream and lemon peels. Superb power.
Finish: long, fresh, salty and mineral, lemon peels and dry oak.
Overall: stunning malt with the taste so intense and powerful that it seems to be out of this world. At the same time you don't even think of adding water.

Glen Grant 1969/1984 Samaroli 59.0% - 720 bottles released.
Nose: very unusual, sweet coca-cola, pencil shavings, sherry, dusty library, wet leather, old cognac, then peat and smoked pears arise, with water it becomes sweeter and more gentle, almost a perfume.
Taste: dense, oaky, astringent and salty, with water it becomes sweeter (or you need to give him half an hour in a glass).
Finish: long and warming, spicy, oaky and salty. Chocolate and berries. Lots of herbs.
Overall: great sherried Glen Grant with superb nose and finish. Smoke and salt weren't expected but they add some charm as well.
