Kilkerran 12 yo 46%

First official release from Glengyle distillery being founded in 1872, closed in 1925 and restarted in 2004 as a sister distillery of Springbank. It doesn't happen often when you taste first core release of a new distillery :)

Kilkerran 12 yo 46% - a batch of 30% sherry casks and 70% bourbon casks.

Nose: lemon and salt at the very beginning. Some earth and minerals appear afterwards. Dirty bandages :) Vanilla and wood.

Taste: oily and peppery with sweetish notes. Lots of fruits. Herbs and spices.

Finish: long and biting, liquorice wood, pepper, lemon and salt with hints of peat. Just great.

Overall: great whisky for just under EUR 50. Mostl likely it's marketing issue and in some years the price will raise, but now you get more than you paid for. It's superb coastal whisky which I do recommend.

Score: 21.5 22 22.5 22, 88/100!
