Set of Maltbarns: Clynelish 21 yo, Tullibardine 27 yo and Invergordon 44 yo

This German bottler has already gained very good reputation and we are trying to get all new releases for tasting.

Clynelish 21 yo 1995/2015 Maltbarn №54 49.9% - the nose is quite strict on green apples, let's give it a few minutes. Later on green vegetables arrive, minerals, candles, wood and salt. On palate you get the same minerality, waxiness and saltiness balanced by some citrus notes. Chiselled profile and wonderful Clynelish. Score = 90/100!

Update: a few times I tasted this gem afterwards the scores were 91/100 and 92/100, so my average score is at least 91/100 I'd say!

Tullibardine 27 yo 1989/2016 Maltbarn №55 51.1% - candles again, but this time angels brought flavoured ones. Chewing gum aroma from 90-s. The body is nervous, sharp and fruity. Quite reminiscent of ... Clynelish! Score = 86/100!

Invergordon 44 yo 1972/2016 Maltbarn №56 49.0% - two main directions are present in the nose: borbon/vanilla on one hand and rum/sweetness on the other. Boiled fruits. Very rounded one. On palate we have vanilla, tropical fruits, leather, a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. It was tasted together with Invergordon 46 yo Rattray, which has quite similar profile, though we liked Maltbarn more because of better balance. If you want some sweet whisky as a drink you should give it a chance. Score = 89/100!
