Macallan 1971 GM Speymalt 40%

I was a bit afraid of commercial strength (I won't even tell the price of a dram as my wife can read this), but I was wrong.

Macallan 39 yo 1971/2010 GM 43%  - aged sherry Macallan from Gordon & McPhail.

Nose: very rich, sherry and prunes, after some time you get tons of coffee.

Taste: very dense, you can slice it with a knife, sherry, chocolate and oils.

Finish: long and utterly pleasant.

Overall: every component was nice, result is just great, especially after recent tasting of boring Macallan 18 (bottled 2015).

Actually that's second of two tasty Macallans I have ever tasted (there was not that much, between 20 and 30 bottles): Macallan 10 yo Cask strength and Macallan 1971 GM. Ok, I haven't tasted 25/30 yo Sherry oak and older 18 yo Sherry oak (distilled before 1983). Hopefully I will change then my sceptical point of view regarding Macallan.

Score: 23 23 23 23, 92/100!
