Quite interesting line-up today :) my friend Sergii was leaving for a business-trip so that was perfect reason for a tasting, you know...
Taketsuru 12 yo 40% - the nose is good, body is a bit watery, finish is quite harsh and ethereal. Sergii score = 83/100, my score = 82/100. Quite a whisky, not more, though not less.
Taketsuru 17 yo 43% - nose is more flowery, some sherry influence, the body is well-framed and powerfull, finish is a tad short. Becomes better after a while. We liked it even more than 21 yo. Sergii score = 87/100, my score = 87/100.
Taketsuru 21 yo 43% - sweeter than 17 yo, more on honey, finish is longer. Balvenie from Japan. Seems to be a bit watery which is strange, we had no such feeling with 17 yo. Sergii score = 84/100, my score = 86/100. Quite possible it will get better after a while, I was doing some samples the next day, made a sip, great feeling. You'd better check yourself :)
Tobermory 20 yo 1994/2015 Cadenhead 57.8% - heavy, dense and winey. Oaky just on edge of being wood tincture. It's well made but too heavy for me. Sergii score = 86/100, my score = 85/100.
Benriach 37 yo 1976/2014 44.2% - matured in sherry, finished in bourbon. Usually it happens vice versa. Just 2 words: burst of currants... Never tasted such profile before... Sergii score = 91/100, my score = 92/100.
Blair Athol Artist #4 25 yo LMDW 59.5% - sherried, bursting and long... Sergii score = 93/100 (partly for some unique style), my score = 90/100.
Order on last photo and order of tasting differs a bit, I gave the records in order the bottles were tasted. Credits to Sergii for providing beatiful Benriach, excellent Blair Athol and Tobermory which was quite ok.
