Oh Orkney, with all thy beauties I love thee still, I said in Kirwall and have not forgot it...
Highland Park 26 yo 1981/2008 Cooper's Choice 46% - bourbon maturation + independent bottler = always interesing for Highland Park addicts.
Being founded in 1798 Highland Park is the most northern single malt distillery in Scotland.
Nose: quite shy at first nosing, let's give hime some time. Lots of fruits + expected vanilla. Ripe apricot and mango. Sweet melon. Milk chocolate. Built on semitones, very delicate stuff.
Taste: a bit oily and at the same time watery, lovely raspberry,
Finish: long one, some slight peat and ashes, old leather, sweet melon, lots of biting spices in the end. Pine resin and freshness. Touch of oak but not that much.
Overall: very nice bourbon matured Highland Park, delicate and fruity.
Score = 22 21 23 22, 88/100!
