We have tasted Strathisla from 60-s recently, this very bottle from 50-s was planned for the same tasting, though it arrived too late.
According to WB comments and bottle code SC999 on the bottom I presume this one was bottled in 80-s and spirit was distilled respectively in 50-s... Do you feel history? :)
Strathisla 30 yo Pinerolo import 40% - quite nice level and screw cap give us hope for its nice condition as it spent around 30 years in bottle already.
Nose: fresh and fruity, you can get ripe pear and apples, then some honey arrives together with spices and wood.
Taste: oily, fruity and spicy, quite thick for 40%. Hints of citrus and nutmeg.
Finish: long and spicy, more wood here and touch of eucalyptus.
Overall: sweet, fruity and beatifully elegant Strathisla! What I adore in these older malts: you never know the result in advance.
Score = 23 22 23 23, 91/100!
